AN INTRODUCTION: I OFFER YOU MORE THAN GOOD INTENTIONS AND EXCITED RHETORIC

My name is Doug Wozniak and I am a member of the Michigan Senate and past member of the Michigan House of Representatives who wants to continue to fight for Shelby Township and Macomb Township in state government.

When I was younger, fresh out of U of M, I worked running and growing the businesses of others and I used the experience to start and grow my own successful construction contracting business. Mid-life, I chose to enter the Detroit College of Law (now MSU School of Law), while continuing to run my own business. When I graduated and passed the state bar exam, I sold my construction business and went into legal practice with others. After gaining experience, I opened a successful law firm of my own where my team and I continue to serve the needs of those in our community.

Early on in my legal career, I was approached to serve as an appointed/volunteer committee member under the Shelby Township Board of Trustees. The township was in debt and in need of fresh ideas and leadership to get it back on track. So I worked as a committee member and eventually ran and was elected to the Shelby Township Board of Trustees where I helped eliminate the township debt, place the community on a firm financial footing and improved services and governance while enhancing quality of life with projects like the Shelby Township Farmers Market. Though serving as a trustee took time away from my law firm, I was enjoying and succeeding at both so I continued on the board for a couple more terms until I was asked to run for the State House of Representatives to succeed Pete Lucido.

At the end of my first two-year term in the House of Representatives, Pete Lucido chose to resign his Senate seat to become the new Macomb County Prosecutor. I was once again encouraged to run to fill the vacancy left by his departure and was honored to receive the support of my community with my election last fall.    However, shortly after my election to the Senate, the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission drew their final maps and decided that a community of interest was a district from the outer Flint suburbs through southern Lapeer and northern Oakland counties into the northwest corner of Macomb County. That is why I have chosen to return to the Michigan House of Representatives to keep fighting for Shelby Township and Macomb Township.

I have enjoyed many successes in my life and I am seeking to continue to represent you in the state legislature not because I need a job but rather to do a job. I want to keep fighting for the values that matter most and restore confidence in our state government to operate with competence, integrity and in your best interests.

I'm asking for your approval and support in the August 2nd Republican primary election.

Thank you and please do not hesitate to contact me if you need additional information.

Sincerely,

Doug Wozniak

State Senator and Candidate for 59th Michigan House District of Shelby Township and Macomb Township
